Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) - Hematology Oncology

This Oncology Infusion APP role is a high‑impact, clinically and operationally integrated position within a 52‑chair, high‑volume infusion center, focused on ensuring safe, efficient delivery of cancer therapies. Role Overview The APP is responsible for same‑day patient management, including urgent add‑ons, treatment clearance, and real‑time symptom evaluation, while partnering closely with physicians, nursing, and pharmacy to maintain optimal patient flow and outcomes. The role requires strong expertise in managing treatment‑related toxicities, coordinating care across the oncology continuum, and balancing clinical decision‑making with throughput demands in a fast‑paced environment, all while delivering patient‑centered, evidence‑based care. Summary An Advanced Practice Provider functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high quality, cost effective care to patients within the APPs scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities Clinical: Obtains relevant health and medical history, performs thorough physical assessment, reviews and interprets diagnostic tests, develops differential diagnoses, implements treatment plans, prescribes evidence‑based pharmacological agents, schedules follow‑up, conducts preventive screening, maintains comprehensive records, and applies evidence‑based initiatives to improve patient care. Education: Educates clients and families regarding medical condition, treatment, and follow‑up; collaborates with clinicians and staff; develops educational materials; provides instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing and students; attends education programs. Leadership: Precepts, shadows, lectures, trains staff; participates in community outreach; leads systems improvement projects. Professional: Interacts with patients and families respectfully; collaborates with coworkers; responds promptly to customer needs. Quality/Research: Engages in continuous quality improvement; consults with management; leads interdisciplinary teams; revises protocols; develops new clinical programs to improve patient care. Education Requirements Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program. Licensure/Certification Requirements Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department. DEA registration. Professional Experience Requirements No prior experience required. Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements Demonstrated clinical competency. Effective leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills. Effective interaction to ensure successful patient care. Documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing.
