Textile Equipment Reliability Technician

Where: Skokie, IL

Pay: $25.00 – $27.00/hour (negotiable)

Hours: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM; stay late and some Saturdays when needed

Impact

Help a maker of industrial protective safety apparel run safe, efficient, and reliable operations by maximizing uptime of industrial sewing machines and facility systems.

What You’ll Do

• Rapidly assess, diagnose, and repair industrial sewing machines and production equipment.
• Execute preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend asset life.
• Perform facility upkeep: basic painting, minor building repairs, and general maintenance.
• Maintain vendor relationships; weigh quality, responsiveness, and cost-effectiveness.
• Follow PM calendars; create and maintain accurate service logs and maintenance records.
• Manage spare-part min/max levels; order parts and supplies to keep lines supplied.
• Request quotes and process purchases through PO approval.
• Support audits/inspections to meet applicable state and safety requirements.
• Contribute to fire safety, building engineering assessments, insurance documentation, ergonomics, and security.
• Prioritize break/fix requests based on safety and production urgency.
• Collaborate across departments; take on other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; mechanical/technical training preferred.
• Bilingual: Spanish / English speaking.
• At least 2 years as a Maintenance or Facilities Technician preferred.
• Experience with sewing machines or other mechanical production equipment strongly preferred (not required).
• General building maintenance experience preferred.
• Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; organized, reliable, and accountable.
