Rome, NYDescriptionAssured Information Security (AIS) is looking for a Software Engineer III to join our team in Rome, NY. This role is ideal for an experienced software engineer with at least five years of experience who is excited to work on innovative research and software development efforts in support of Trusted Systems.*This is an onsite position located in Rome, NY and requires an active Secret clearance* Position is contingent upon contract awardWhat You'll Do:Independently design, develop, debug, and test software solutionsDevelop and maintain applications within a Linux-based environmentApply creative problem-solving to software design and implementationCollaborate with peer engineers on software architecture and development effortsParticipate in an agile, cross-functional team of developers, testers, and investigatorsContribute to technical documentationPerform code and design reviews with minimal guidance from senior technical staffBreak down complex software and system requirements and estimate level of effort for assigned tasksEducation/Experience/Skillset Required:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field of study, and 5 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum of 3 years' experience with C/C++ or RustMinimum of 3 years' experience with Python, Bash or other scripting languagesProficiency in operating systems, data structures and programming fundamentalsMinimum of 3 years' experience working in a Linux environmentKnowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) conceptsStrong foundation on virtualization / containerization (e.g. docker, KVM, VirtualBox, Xen)Ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical documentationAbility to understand and describe highly technical software systemsSecurity Clearance: Active Secret clearanceTravel: Less than 10% AA / Disability / VeteranUS Salary Range: $104,000 - $158,000The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on several factors including location, skills, and experience.
