Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive Litigation Attorney to manage a diverse docket of civil cases across personal injury, probate, trusts and wills, family law, and business litigation. The ideal candidate will develop case strategy, advocate for clients in court and at hearings, draft and respond to pleadings, handle discovery, and drive successful resolutions through negotiation or trial. This role demands strong analytical skills, courtroom experience, and the ability to counsel clients compassionately while advancing the firms objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of civil litigation matters including personal injury, probate, trusts and wills, family law, and business litigation from inception through resolution.
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, briefs, settlement agreements, and other court documents.
• Prepare for and appear at mediations, hearings, and trials; examine and cross-examine witnesses and present evidence effectively in court.
• Develop case strategy and work collaboratively with partners, paralegals, expert witnesses, and support staff to advance client objectives.
• Handle client intake, conduct interviews, maintain consistent client communication, and set realistic expectations throughout the litigation process.
• Negotiate settlements and structure resolution agreements that protect client interests while minimizing risk and cost.
• Manage discovery processes including document productions, depositions, interrogatories, and preservation obligations.
• Maintain organized case files, meet court deadlines, and ensure compliance with procedural rules and firm policies.
• Mentor junior attorneys and collaborate on complex matters to build team capability and share best practices.
• Stay current on changes in applicable laws and precedents affecting practice areas; contribute to business development and client retention efforts.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and membership in good standing with the state bar.
• Minimum 3-5 years of civil litigation experience; preference given to candidates with experience across personal injury, probate, trusts and wills, family law, and business litigation.
• Demonstrated courtroom experience including motion practice, hearings, and trials.
• Proven ability to draft clear, persuasive legal pleadings, briefs, and settlement documents.
• Strong negotiation skills and a track record of achieving favorable settlements and verdicts.
• Excellent analytical reasoning, legal research, oral advocacy, and written communication skills.
• Experience managing discovery, depositions, and working with expert witnesses.
• Familiarity with case management and e-discovery platforms (e.g., Clio, Relativity, LexisNexis) and competent with Microsoft Office.
• High ethical standards, professionalism, and ability to manage sensitive client information with discretion.
