Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Job Full Description

Our client, a premier manufacturer and distributor for the construction industry in Northeast San Antonio, is seeking a Shipping/Receiving Clerk . This is a long-term assignment with an opportunity to go permanent with the client. Pay: $19.00/hour plus $1.50 differential.


Job duties for the Shipping/Receiving Clerk include:

• Ensure on-time delivery by reviewing open customer orders and planning for items needed to meet daily and weekly shipments
• Receive and sign for deliveries, Inspect deliveries to ensure they match order and invoice criteria.
• Schedule shipments with freight carriers, parcel services, and customer-designated transportation providers.
• Verify shipping quantities, product information, and shipment accuracy before dispatch.
• Process returns for incorrect or unsatisfactory items.
• Communicate with Customer Service regarding delays or problems and serve as a liaison between Customer service and delivery personnel
• Update inventory with received and shipped items.
• Organize and store received items in appropriate areas.
• Load/unload machine in an efficient, productive manner
• Observes safety and security procedures
• Responsible for keeping all tools, dies, machine controls in good working condition

Requirements for the Punch Press Operator are:

• High School Diploma; Associate degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in shipping, warehouse operations, logistics, or administrative support preferred.
• Computer skills and knowledge of data entry and inventory software programs.
• Ability to obtain Forklift Driver's Certification
• Capability to lift items weighing up to 40 pounds, Capability to stand or walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours.
• Strong safety background and attendance record
• Ability to work overtime and weekends as requested
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment/deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
