The Opportunity : Associate Director, Scientific Publication Writing US

Through intensive preclinical investigations, our researchers have developed a robust pipeline of drug candidates that disrupt complex and difficult-to-target protein-protein interactions (PPIs), and next-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs).

As our clinical and corporate activities rapidly expand, we seek a highly competent individual to join our growing Medical Affairs Department in support of our ongoing clinical trials.

Position Overview

As Associate Director, Scientific Publication Writing, you will develop and lead the global medical communication of our assets and contribute to the creation of scientific communication plans, publication strategy, and tactics, as well as supporting development of field medical educational material and external tools in alignment with the SVP & Global Head, Corporate Strategy.

Areas of Responsibility

• Develop materials for oncology-specific assets in accordance with the Global Medical Affairs strategy
• Formulate scientific communication plans for Ascentage Pharma assets, leveraging the publication/data dissemination plan to create simultaneous and aligned enduring materials and educational activities
• Be accountable for accurate and impactful scientific deliverables including symposia, slide decks, MSL tools, and booth materials, as well as accuracy reviews of non-departmental-driven materials (examples: publications & congress presentations)
• For all deliverables, collaborate with key stakeholders, including investigators, congresses, and medical experts, and liaise with cross-functional internal team including preclinical, clinical development, pharmacovigilance, and biostatistics.
• Oversee the development of scientific platforms for Ascentage Pharma assets
• Line-edit, fact-check, and style manuscripts (often drafted by non-native English speakers), adhering to current AMA, EQUATOR network, and journal QC guidelines and evincing great attention to detail
• Assist in the development and execution of innovative tools for internal and external communication, including digital
• Supervise timely execution of all deliverables within the Scientific Communication plans for all assets
• Maintain a strong understanding of internal and external publication, scientific engagement, and medical education standards globally.
• Oversee medical education strategy exploring innovative and interactive educational opportunities and executing on educational symposia at congresses as needed
• Disseminate internally up-to-date scientific data across oncology assets and disease states, including recent publications, landscape, insights, presentations, study-specific information, scientific statements, providing training as needed to medical affairs associates
• Ensure awareness of assets internally by developing materials and training tools
• Ensure clinical trial awareness materials available to MSLs to supplement trial recruitment activities
• Maximize scientific communication opportunities through the creation of tools and content for advisory boards, medical booths, and externally facing meetings

Education & Experience

• Advanced degree: PhD, PharmD, or MD
• Oncology experience
• Prior work in a pharmaceutical or communication company focusing on oncology
• Experience in developing oncology medical education tools and material
• Knowledge of publication guidelines and practices, including AMA, ICMJE, GPP, and EQUATOR, as well as familiarity with electronic platforms to ensure ethically compliant, transparent, and audit-ready reviews of publications
• Ability to interpret, analyze, and organize scientific data
• Experience with strategic and tactical publication planning, development of abstracts, manuscripts, and slide decks with strong scientific content
• Experience with medical education meetings and digital/social medical delivery
• Experience leading and working within cross-functional teams

• Strong organizational, planning, and business acumen skills
• Ability to prioritize needs and the flexibility to address them when business appropriate
• Ability to conceptually organize and analyze data, interpret, and synthesize complex clinical and nonclinical statistical reports to derive key outcomes and messages; ability to translate scientific and technical issues for diverse audiences
• Strong awareness of compliance issues and guidelines around medical education and publications
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful execution of deliverable
• Prioritize projects effectively and proactively collaborate and communicate at all levels within the company
• Experience with innovative tools and electronic communication channels; knowledge of applicable guidance related to the dissemination of scientific evidence to external customers
• Strong leadership capability with a focus on development of high-performing, integrated teams
• Expertise in collaborating with external experts on medical affairs activities

Work Location & Schedule

• Location Preference: Strongly prefer candidates located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area to optimize overlapping working hours with European teams and internal stakeholders.
