Collection Manager

Stevens Institute of Technology is seeking a Collection Manager for the Office of Student Accounts. The Collection Manager reports to the Associate Director of Student Accounts and provides a high level of customer service while working with students and parents to answer inquiries regarding their financial status, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and maintaining student account records accurately. Responsibilities Assist students who are in financial stress by understanding their unique needs and utilizing available Student Accounts payment options, students, and, if needed, institutional resources. Manage third‑party billing for sponsored students and ensure accurate accounting by working with students and sponsors. Understand billing deliveries, manage collections, and meet due dates for all specialized (corporate and other cohort) programs. Participate in Student Accounts collection efforts for past‑due account receivables. Distribute refunds to students and parent borrowers in compliance with Federal and Department of Education Regulations. Provide coverage for Student Account Coordinators on phone and at front desks as needed. Maintain current knowledge of regulations, policies and applicable requirements related to Student Accounts and Stevens, including FERPA and TitleIV. Safeguard assets and contribute to a sound internal control environment. Attend training related to professional development and compliance to maintain accurate, up‑to‑date information on best practices, policies and procedures. Attend campus events as a representative of the Office of Student Accounts. Ensure accuracy and quality of customer service in all aspects of responsibilities. Work evening and occasional weekend hours as required. Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned by the Director and Associate Director of Student Accounts or by Stevens as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or five (5) years of experience in higher education, accounting or related field is required. Knowledge and Skills Team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal with challenging situations diplomatically and calmly. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel. Experience with a student ERP system is a plus. Analytical, detail‑oriented, highly motivated independent thinker with excellent communication skills (oral, written, listening). Experience in higher education administration is required; experience in Bursar, Financial Aid, and/or Registrar departments is preferred. Bilingual skills are a plus. Compensation In compliance with the NewJersey Wage Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $53,600.00–$73,266.67, and the final salary will be set based on departmental budget, qualifications and relevant credentials. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes additional forms of compensation such as incentives, stipends or other components.
