Accounts Payable Specialist – Real Estate

Salary: $70,000–$75,000 DOE

Work Environment: 100% Onsite

Real Estate Experience is Required

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented  Accounts Payable Specialist with real estate experience to support a growing property portfolio. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate, timely processing of invoices and vendor payments while partnering closely with property managers and operations teams. The ideal candidate is organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, fully in-office environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Process high-volume accounts payable invoices, ensuring accurate coding by  property, legal entity, and general ledger account
• Manage vendor relationships, including setup, maintenance, and payment processing via  ACH, checks, and wire transfers
• Perform  purchase order, contract, and invoice matching , resolving discrepancies as needed
• Review and process real estate–specific expenses such as  CAM charges, utilities, repairs & maintenance, insurance, and property taxes
• Assist with  AP reconciliations , accruals, and  month-end close support
• Maintain organized and audit-ready records in accordance with internal controls and accounting policies
• Partner with  property managers, operations, and accounting teams to resolve invoice questions and improve processes
• Monitor aging reports and ensure timely payments while maintaining strong vendor relationships
• Support process improvements, system clean-up, and documentation of AP procedures
• Assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

• 3+ years of  accounts payable experience , preferably within  real estate, property management, or related industries
• Working knowledge of  real estate expenses and property-level accounting
• Experience using real estate accounting systems such as  Yardi, MRI, NetSuite, Sage, or similar
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic accounting principles
