Job Summary Senior Vice President, Portfolio Management is an individual contributor responsible for performing financial analysis and preparing underwriting documents to support complex, multimillion-dollar corporate credit requests that grow funded assets and Key’s client base, while maintaining asset quality within a moderate risk profile. These requests include obtaining initial approval for new, often multi‑faceted, credit exposure such as revolving credit facilities, term loans, leases, foreign exchange and derivatives products, and amendments to existing exposure. Additionally, the role manages ongoing credit monitoring and risk rating for a portfolio of high‑value corporate clients and leads the approval process for lending commitments, amendments, waivers and consents. Responsibilities Gather and analyze all relevant financial and industry data for high‑value clients or prospects, collaborating with third‑party vendors to ensure accuracy of financial statements. Model future financial performance of clients and prospects, including downside scenarios. Serve as a thought leader on the deal team, guiding Business Partners, Bankers and Relationship Managers in structuring transactions, particularly with complex multi‑faceted structures. Perform enhanced leveraged cash‑flow due diligence when appropriate. Prepare thorough credit underwriting documents, proactively identifying credit risks, mitigants, industry concerns, market share trends and other pertinent issues. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including KYC, MCA/Patriot Act/OFAC checks and Beneficial Ownership certification. Lead the approval process for lending commitments, amendments, waivers and consents, providing monitoring, reporting and recommendations to Credit Executives. Obtain and review all necessary documentation and business records, including credit agreements, guarantees, pledges and collateral agreements, to ensure they correctly reflect rates, terms and special conditions. Work closely with outside counsel as applicable, reviewing and maintaining legal documentation. Monitor ongoing financial performance of the portfolio to track covenant compliance, liquidity, earnings trends and management capability. Ensure data integrity in Key’s systems and maintain appropriate risk ratings at all times, making timely changes. Identify potential problem accounts and coordinate with the Asset Recovery Group to protect the bank’s position. Establish and maintain strong client relationships; attend management presentations, bank meetings and conduct site visits to monitor business conditions and identify new underwriting or product opportunities. Contribute to or prepare white papers on assigned industry segments and gather data for ad‑hoc requests. Provide guidance and feedback to Analysts, Associates and Vice Presidents as appropriate. Perform other duties as assigned, recognizing responsibilities may evolve over time. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, economics or business, or equivalent work experience (required). Master’s Degree/MBA (preferred). Minimum of 7 years commercial underwriting, credit, banking or financial services experience for a Senior Vice President; minimum of 5 years for a Vice President (required). Competence in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and effectively utilize other technology applications (required). Strong competence in financial analysis and modeling (required). Proficient in structuring meaningful and appropriate financial covenants for syndicated debt facilities (required). Experience managing the left‑lead/administrative agent role in complex syndicated deals (required). Ability to lead client discussions during negotiations and act as the primary lending representative, leveraging senior leaders when appropriate (required). Extensive knowledge of business and legal elements of credit agreements and the ability to manage counsel and lead document negotiations (required). Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to influence and challenge with impact (required). Ability to plan, multi‑task, manage time effectively and lead work independently (required). Preferred Qualifications Experience lending to financial institutions, including insurance companies. Experience analyzing the financial performance of financial institutions, including insurance companies. Experience evaluating statutory statements. Benefits & Compensation The Senior Vice President position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $128,000.00 – $268,000.00 annually, with eligibility for incentive compensation including production, commission and discretionary incentives. The Vice President position is eligible for a base salary in the range of $96,000.00 – $181,000.00 annually. Work Location & Physical Demands Work is hybrid: 3+ days a week in office near one of KeyBank’s locations. Physical demands include prolonged sitting, communication face‑to‑face or by phone, frequent use of PC/laptop, occasional lifting of backpacks up to 10lbs.
