Position Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a strategic executive responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the residential real estate development business. This role leads financial planning, capital strategy, risk management, and reporting to support growth, profitability, and compliance. The CFO partners closely with executive leadership to drive investment decisions, project feasibility, and long-term financial sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership

· Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with company growth objectives

· Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership

· Evaluate capital structure and financing strategies

Capital Management & Financing

· Lead project financing efforts including loans and joint ventures

· Maintain relationships with lenders and investors

· Monitor debt compliance, loan covenants, and lender reporting requirements

· Oversee capital raising and financial presentations

Budgeting, Forecasting & Modeling

· Direct budgeting and long-term financial planning

· Review development pro formas and project feasibility

· Monitor budgets, cash flow forecasts, and return metrics

Accounting & Financial Reporting

· Oversee accounting operations and financial reporting

· Manage the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes

· Ensure timely and accurate financial statements

· Manage audits and tax filings

Development & Project Financial Oversight

· Monitor financial performance of projects

· Analyze cost variances and profitability

· Implement financial controls

Risk Management & Compliance

· Maintain internal controls and accounting policies

· Assess financial risks

· Ensure regulatory compliance at Federal, State and local levels

Team Leadership

· Lead and mentor finance team

· Drive accountability and performance

Qualifications

Education & Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field

· CPA and/or MBA preferred

· 10+ years financial leadership experience

· Experience in real estate development

Technical Skills

· Strong technical accounting skills able to work both strategically and hands on

· Expertise in financial modeling and pro formas

· Experience in debt financing, refinancing, and lender negotiations

· Experience with real estate ERP/accounting systems
