Shipping & Receiving Clerk – Temp-to-Perm

Location: Houston, TX 77053
Pay Rate: $19.00/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
Employment Type: Temp-to-Perm
Additional Hours: Overtime and occasional weekend work as required

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable, computer-literate, bilingual English/Spanish Shipping & Receiving Clerk to join a busy manufacturing and warehouse operation in Houston, TX 77053 . This is a temp-to-perm opportunity for an individual who is organized, safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk will be responsible for coordinating incoming and outgoing shipments, completing shipping documentation, receiving and verifying materials, maintaining accurate records, assisting with logistics, and communicating with vendors, drivers, customers, and internal departments.

Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills and forklift experience are required for this position.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM standard schedule
• Rotating coverage until approximately 4:30 PM is common when later-day shipments need to be processed.
• Occasional Saturday work, primarily half-day shifts , may be required.
• Overtime may be required based on shipment schedules, production needs, and business demands.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete all required shipping and receiving paperwork to ensure timely and accurate delivery of shipments.
• Prepare Bills of Lading (BOLs), packing lists, shipping documentation, and related records .
• Provide administrative and basic office support for the shipping department.
• Maintain accurate and organized shipping and receiving records and files.
• Accurately receive, unload, inspect, and verify all incoming shipments in a timely manner.
• Enter receipts into the company's ERP system on the same day materials are physically received.
• Ensure all receiving paperwork is properly completed and accounted for.
• Coordinate with Quality Control to ensure incoming materials are inspected for damage, loss, defects, or discrepancies.
• Document and communicate any receiving or shipment discrepancies to the appropriate departments.
• Determine the appropriate method of transportation based on shipment requirements, routes, rates, and delivery needs.
• Obtain transportation quotes and assist in determining the most effective logistics solution.
• Assist with domestic and international shipments and follow applicable trade compliance procedures.
• Maintain shipping logs and assist with tracking and updating department KPIs.
• Maintain adequate inventory of shipping supplies and materials.
• Operate a forklift safely and efficiently as required.
• Communicate effectively with vendors, delivery personnel, customers, and internal departments.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE.
• Assist with shipments that arrive later in the day and support production needs as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet business and operational needs.

Required Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish – Required
• Forklift experience – Required
• Previous shipping and receiving, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing experience preferred.
• Computer literate with the ability to learn and navigate computer systems and software.
• Working knowledge of warehouse, shipping, and receiving procedures.
• Basic understanding of inventory control and receiving processes.
• Familiarity with SAP and/or ERP inventory systems ; Epicor A+ experience is a plus.
• Experience with FedEx and UPS shipping software preferred.
• Knowledge of domestic and international shipping practices and trade compliance preferred.
• Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Basic mathematical skills with accuracy and speed.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, vendors, delivery personnel, and customers.
• Ability to safely lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds .
• Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends when required.
• Must be dependable, punctual, safety-conscious, and a team player .

Work Environment

This position works in a fast-paced warehouse and manufacturing environment and requires frequent interaction with production personnel, vendors, delivery drivers, customers, and other departments. The successful candidate must be comfortable balancing office/administrative responsibilities with hands-on warehouse and shipping activities.
