Clean Energy Workforce Development Manager - Long Island, NY

Position Overview The Regional Clean Energy Hub (Hub) provides education and outreach to residents and small businesses in the Long Island Region (Nassau and Suffolk Counties) with a focus on disadvantaged communities. The Hub helps people learn about ways to reduce their energy use and transition to clean energy for heating, cooling, powering homes, buildings, and transportation. It also elicits community input on state energy programs and policy and supports workforce development efforts focused on clean energy jobs. The Clean Energy Workforce Development Manager will lead initiatives to strengthen clean energy workforce opportunities in Long Island, particularly for disadvantaged communities. The role involves collaborating with employers, training providers, community organizations, and government agencies to build a diverse and inclusive clean energy workforce pipeline. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with employers, training providers, community organizations, and government agencies to develop and implement workforce development programs. Promote awareness of clean energy careers and support individuals in accessing training and employment opportunities. Focus on job creation for underemployed individuals and those facing language or cultural barriers, ensuring equitable access to economic opportunities. Represent the Hub in meetings with funders and partners. Serve on the Hub leadership team and provide direction to staff and subcontractors. Coordinate quarterly workforce development plan development and track progress toward predetermined milestones. Manage program budgets, timelines, and deliverables while maintaining a high degree of integrity and confidentiality. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree and two years of related volunteer or work experience in workforce development, job training programs, or economic development. Demonstrated ability to effectively support and manage a team. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to work with diverse audiences and maintain cultural sensitivity, including low‑income and underrepresented populations. Ability to develop new partnerships and collaborate with multiple stakeholders. High degree of integrity, accuracy, organization, and sound professional judgment. Ability to handle confidential, sensitive information. Strong organizational and time‑management skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer technologies for educational, management, and communication purposes. Adaptability and creative problem‑solving in ambiguous environments. Ability to reflect on experience and refine programs through action‑reflection. Readiness to travel as required. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Preferred Qualifications Background in an energy‑related field or experience with energy efficiency, renewable heating, solar, electric vehicles, or home construction. Experience with team‑management software such as Microsoft Teams and customer‑relationship‑management tools. Knowledge of local and state agencies, nonprofits, and community resources, especially those with limited income. Experience implementing strategies and educational programs that influence community change. Strong understanding and commitment to addressing environmental and economic inequities. Familiarity with state and federal workforce policies and clean‑energy incentives. Experience in fund development, grant writing, and proposal implementation. Foreign‑language fluency (especially Spanish) and experience living or working in disadvantaged communities abroad or in the U.S. Experience recruiting, training, and supporting diverse volunteers. Graphic‑design skills using Adobe Creative Suite or other programs.
