Shipping and Receiving Warehouse Associate This role supports a specialized electropolishing and mechanical finishing operation by safely moving large industrial materials, managing shipping and receiving activities, and maintaining accurate inventory records in an ERP system. You will operate a sit-down propane forklift to handle large pipes, steel drums, and pallets of metal parts, while keeping the warehouse organized, clean, and running efficiently. Responsibilities Operate a sit-down propane forklift to move large pipes, steel drums, pallets of metal parts, and other materials safely and efficiently. Load and unload large trucks, ensuring materials are handled carefully and placed in the correct locations. Perform shipping and receiving tasks, including verifying incoming and outgoing shipments and ensuring accurate documentation. Post receipts in the ERP system and perform inventory transfers to maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records. Support inventory control activities, including cycle counts, inventory checks, and reconciliation of discrepancies. Use RF scanners and related warehouse systems to pick, stage, and track materials throughout the facility. Assist with moving parts and materials by hand when needed, including general material handling and assembly-related tasks. Work closely with production and manufacturing teams to ensure timely material flow and support overall production schedules. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment, including tidying the warehouse during downtime. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when operating forklifts and handling materials, including pipes and metal components. Collaborate as a team player with warehouse and production staff to meet daily shipping, receiving, and inventory goals. Adapt to long work hours when required and support frequent optional Saturday overtime as needed. Essential Skills At least 3 years of warehouse experience in a manufacturing or production environment. Proven forklift experience, specifically operating a sit-down propane forklift. Hands-on experience moving large pipes, metal parts, steel drums, and similar industrial materials. Demonstrated experience loading and unloading large trucks in a warehouse or production setting. Practical knowledge of shipping and receiving processes and documentation. Experience with inventory control, including inventory transfers, cycle counts, and warehouse inventory management. Ability to use ERP systems for posting receipts, inventory transfers, and basic inventory transactions. Familiarity with RF scanners and material handling workflows such as picking, staging, and inventory tracking. Background in manufacturing, production, or general labor environments involving material handling and assembly. Comfort working long hours when required and maintaining productivity throughout the shift. High initiative with the ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks. Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with warehouse and production teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bilingual communication skills are preferred. Experience with forklift operation specifically in environments handling pipe and heavy metal materials. Exposure to shipping and receiving functions using ERP or SAP-like systems. General understanding of production, assembly, and material handling processes in an industrial setting. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities. Strong attention to detail when handling inventory, documentation, and material movement. Willingness to participate in optional Saturday overtime when available. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a small to medium-sized production facility in Houston, operating in a clean but non-air-conditioned environment. You will work primarily on a day shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with frequent optional Saturday overtime typically from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Warehouse positions are limited to day shift, while a separate production shift operates overnight. The team consists of approximately 50 direct employees, with a smaller warehouse group that is actively growing. The facility focuses on electropolishing, mechanical polishing, pickling, passivation, and oxygen cleaning services for corrosion-resistant, high-purity process equipment serving industries such as aerospace, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, and food-grade manufacturing. You will work around industrial equipment, forklifts, metal components, and chemical-processing-related operations. The dress code requires covered shoes, work shirts, and jeans; hats and jewelry are not permitted, and work shirts are provided. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX 77041. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
