Senior Accountant

Overview Senior Accountant at FirstCall Mechanical (LC Anderson). Location: Boston, MA. Reports to the Controller. Responsibilities Monthly financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP, including all journal entries, accruals and balance sheet reconciliation schedules Preparing financial reports, analyses, projections, and budgets Preparing tax returns and documentation for external auditors Coordinating and assisting with audit preparations Managing accounts payable and check runs Cash management and cash forecasting Maintaining fixed asset records Maintaining proper accounting procedures and controls and related documentation Processing W-9 requests, COI requests (and other compliance) Coordinating with the Controller to provide financial information as requested Developing and implementing process improvements in the finance functions Managing audit requests Other duties as assigned Accountabilities Continual learning and development in the body of knowledge through FirstCall Academy Elite level of customer service to be the FirstCall our customers rely on for their HVAC needs Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting and finance experience Deep understanding of financial close process including the preparation of journal entries, reconciliation schedules and financial statement packages Experience in financial operations including A/R, A/P, treasury, payroll and state and local tax compliance Strong written and verbal communication skills Advanced computer skills and ability to quickly learn and adopt new software tools; experience with accounting software High degree of professionalism and ownership Working knowledge of QuickBooks, Sage Intacct (a plus) Background in trades environment: construction, electrical, HVAC (a plus) CPA or desire to pursue CPA designation (a plus) Behavioral Profile Language Skills: Ability to read, comprehend simple instructions and memos; write correspondence; present information clearly Mathematical Skills: Proficiency with arithmetic, rate, ratio, percent; interpret graphs Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense; handle multiple tasks and prioritize Physical Demands: Routine use of computer and keyboard; ability to sit, stand, walk as required; ability to lift up to 25 pounds Benefits Overview Competitive weekly pay Comprehensive healthcare coverage (Medical, Dental, Vision, + more; some plans 100% company-paid) Financial resources: 401(k) with 5% match, life insurance, short & long-term disability Paid time off and holidays: up to 4 weeks of PTO, 9 paid holidays Career growth & development programs (FirstCall Academy, LEAP, FirstCall Progression Program) Generous referral bonus of $2,500 per referral Role-specific perks: company vehicle or allowance, mobile phone or allowance, uniforms, boot allowances NOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
