Job Description

Position Title: CNC Set Up Machinist

Wage: $25-$29/hour

Shift: 1st

Hours: 5am-3:30pm Monday-Thursday, 5am-10am as needed

QPS Employment Group is hiring a CNC Set Up Machinist for a company in Hartford, WI. This associate to hire role is setup-focused only and not an operator position-candidates must have setup experience.

CNC Set Up Machinist Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Set up CNC machines (HAAS) for production runs
- Load, edit, and verify CNC programs as needed
- Install and align tooling, fixtures, and workpieces
- Perform first article inspections to ensure part accuracy
- Adjust offsets, speeds, and feeds to optimize performance
- Troubleshoot setup issues and ensure machines are production-ready
- Collaborate with programmers and production team to ensure efficiency
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all safety procedures and company standards

CNC Set Up Machinist Requirements:
- Proven experience setting up CNC machines (HAAS preferred)
- Strong understanding of G-code and CNC programming basics
- Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and tolerances
- Experience with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of setups
- Preferred experience in a job shop or production machining environment
- Preferred ability to make minor program edits at the machine
- Preferred familiarity with multiple materials (steel, aluminum, etc.)
- Manufacturing / machining shop environment
- Exposure to machinery, noise, and metalworking conditions
- PPE required at all times
