Respiratory Therapist Full Time Float Pool Night

Overview This position provides respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support services to both in‑patients and out‑patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric. The role includes monitoring and weaning oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation, drawing and analyzing arterial blood gases and EKGs, delivering intermittent therapy, assisting with changing artificial airways, and providing services as ordered by a physician and in accordance with established policies and procedures. Responsibilities Performs routine and advanced therapeutic procedures. Monitors and weans oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation, draws, analyzes and reports arterial blood gases and EKGs, and delivers intermittent therapy. Assists with changing artificial airways and provides services as ordered by a physician. Reviews and documents all clinical information regarding each patient encounter. Educates patients and the healthcare team on procedures and treatment plans. Performs diagnostic procedures. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, ensuring privacy, proper introduction, explanations of services, and appropriate communication style. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate’s degree in respiratory therapy (Bachelor’s degree preferred). Minimum two years of respiratory therapy experience. Certifications Current state license as a respiratory therapist. Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a certified or registered respiratory therapist. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (within 90 days of hire). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association (within 90 days of hire). Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics or the American Heart Association. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally. Strong interpersonal skills. Physical and Environmental Demands The role requires lifting and moving objects that may exceed 100 pounds in occasional instances and 50 pounds frequently. The position involves walking, standing, and occasionally pushing or pulling equipment. It also exposes the employee to blood, body fluids, tissues, communicable diseases, hazardous medications, and hazardous waste through handling and disposal of contaminated materials.
