Respiratory Therapist - In House Agency - Days or Nights - New Orleans Region

This job is typically 8‑weeks in length and involves providing respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support to in‑patients and out‑patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric ages. The position includes monitoring and weaning oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation, drawing, analyzing, and reporting arterial blood gases and EKGs, delivering intermittent therapy, assisting with changing artificial airways, and providing services as ordered by a physician and in accordance with established policies and procedures. Job Duties Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures. Review and document all clinical information regarding each patient encounter. Educate patients and the healthcare team on procedures and treatment plans. Perform diagnostic procedures. Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, method of introduction, adapting explanation of services, requesting permissions, and communication style. Perform other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally. Strong interpersonal skills. Education Required: Associate's degree in respiratory therapy. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy. Work Experience Required: 2 years of respiratory therapy experience. Certifications Current license as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice. Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 90 days of hire. Preferred: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification.
