POSITION PROFILE

Technical professional who participates in design, test, development, and/or support of software products and/or systems. Develops new, modifies and improves, or supports existing software products and solutions. Works under the general guidance of more senior professionals, and decisions are aided by tools and processes. Receives detailed instructions and work is closely managed.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

· Performs basic software activities related to the development of a software product or solution.

· Determines and examines software alternatives. Recommends and implements basic software solutions.

· Contributes to project planning in the team or local unit; work is usually part of a larger project.

· Works on software development projects, with guidance. Sometimes coordinates activities of team members.

· Recommends solutions to problems/issues that impact the team.

· Accountable for completion of technical objectives on schedule and within cost and quality objectives.

· Decisions contribute to project/team objectives and impact customer satisfaction, cost, quality and expense.

· Failure to accomplish results can be normally overcome without a significant impact to the organization.

· Understands and follows existing local development processes.

· Constructively challenges and improves processes related to his/her specific assignment.

· Documents own work.

· Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Certifications)

· Has a basic professional theoretical and conceptual knowledge in a specific field of software development, typically acquired via a bachelor's degree or professional experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

· Applies basic professional knowledge related to software engineering processes and tools used within the team or local unit.

· Quickly develops and applies new skills.

· Effectively uses teamwork skills to interact and collaborate on technical issues within team and department.

· Communicates effectively and shares basic software and component knowledge within and across department work teams.

· Position requires analytical ability and creativity in using existing techniques to analyze and implement basic software solutions.

· Able to build stable internal working relationships.

WORKING CONDITIONS, MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· Cope with stressors and demands that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable and defined levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained. (While all jobs involve dealing with stressors, the particular stressors may vary job to job).

· Work in areas which adhere to state and federal regulatory standards, or where no such standards exist, to nationally accepted guidelines, i.e., dust, fumes, physical and chemical agents.

· Adaptable and flexible to work environment including, but not limited to, out of town travel as required to meet business commitments and working overtime, as business needs may require, handling multiple tasks concurrently, and easily adapting to new assignments, system, tools; produce clear, concise, accurate written communication, clearly conveying thoughts and ideas to peers, management, and customers; establish and maintain positive work relationships with peers, management, and customers, displaying willingness to understand diverse points of view; learn and apply new equipment and tools within an acceptable timeframe; and assume ownership of assignments, completing commitments on time.
