Step into a meaningful role supporting student success as a paraprofessional in a welcoming middle school setting near Hartford, CT. This contract opportunity runs from now through June 11, with consistent weekday hours of 7:30 AM to 2:40 PM and a 30-minute unpaid lunch. You’ll be working closely 1:1 with an 8th grade student, offering direct support and encouragement throughout the school day.
Key Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience as a paraprofessional, particularly within school settings
- Preferably experienced in supporting students with behavioral needs
- Completion of state-mandated trainings (to be fulfilled upon hire)
- Strong interpersonal skills and an approachable, patient demeanor
- Reliability and commitment to the entirety of the school year assignment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide daily 1:1 support to an 8th grade student, adapting assistance to their specific academic and behavioral needs
- Foster positive, productive interactions and encourage student engagement
- Implement teacher-led plans and respond appropriately to behavioral cues
- Document student progress and collaborate regularly with the classroom teacher and relevant school staff
- Attend required trainings and follow school policies and procedures
