Program Assistant I

Current Colorado Residents Only. The Program Assistant in the OPS Underground Damage Prevention Safety Commission (UDP Safety Commission) provides administrative support to the governor‑appointed commission. Responsibilities include coordinating complaint investigations, delivering investigation documents to review committees, scheduling meetings and logistics, evaluating guidance, developing and submitting grants, and communicating with the Federal government, Attorney General’s office, Colorado legislature, and other stakeholders. The role also serves as the secondary point of contact for the 15‑member commission and stakeholders. Minimum Qualifications Four (4) years of relevant experience in a related occupation, including customer service, explaining processes, application/documentation review, and communication with stakeholders/clients, including the State Legislature. Experience working for a regulatory authority such as a government agency or a governor‑appointed board or commission. Or a combination of related education and/or relevant experience equal to four (4) years. Preferred Qualifications Experience providing customer service, explaining processes, application/documentation review, and communication with stakeholders/clients, including the State Legislature. Project experience, including setting, tracking, and accomplishing priorities, goals, and timetables to achieve maximum productivity. Experience working for a regulatory authority such as a government agency or a governor‑appointed board or commission. Required Competencies Advanced knowledge of past and current editions of statutes and regulations, as well as past precedents and legal guidance under which the Safety Commission operates. Ability to decipher and comprehend proposed and adopted changes and updates to currently adopted statutes and regulations. Organization and planning: Plans, organizes, and schedules in an efficient, productive manner, focusing on key priorities of the commission. Intelligence: Learns quickly, adapts to statutory changes, and absorbs new information efficiently. Analytical skills: Structures and processes qualitative or quantitative data, drawing insightful conclusions. Attention to detail: Ensures that all key components of tasks and projects are completed in a timely manner. Follow‑through on commitments: Displays accountability and integrity when completing verbal and written agreements. Listening skills and strategic thinking/visioning: Organizes information from commission members and presents strategic end products that are consistent with statute, regulation, and commission bylaws. Communication: Possesses excellent communication skills for meetings, hearings, stakeholder meetings, state legislature presentations, and correspondence.
