3 East is a 30-bed adult med/surg department serving a patient population that consists of orthopedics, neurosurgical and general medicine and general surgical.

Average Patient: Nurse ratio 5:1 days, 6:1 nights

About the Job:

The Resource Registered Nurse serves as a clinical leader on an assigned shift, overseeing unit operations, coordinating staffing assignments, and supporting patient care delivery. This role ensures safe, effective, and patient-centered care by balancing staff competencies, patient acuity, and unit volume. The Resource RN acts as a mentor, role model, and resource to the care team while collaborating closely with nursing leadership to maintain quality, safety, and operational excellence.

What You'll Do:

• Coordinate operational flow and patient care activities for an assigned unit and shift.
• Develop staff assignments based on competencies, patient acuity, and census.
• Lead staffing huddles and perform regular rounds to support quality care, patient safety, and patient satisfaction.
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff and new employees.
• Foster a positive work environment and assist staff in adapting to change.
• Deliver and promote patient-centered care utilizing the Professional Practice Model.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Utilize evidence-based practice, quality data, and performance improvement methodologies to enhance patient care.
• Support staff competency development in partnership with Clinical Teachers and nursing leadership.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, Unit Based Practice Councils, and patient experience efforts.
• Monitor compliance with organizational, professional, and regulatory standards.
• Use technology and electronic medical records to support documentation, communication, and clinical decision-making.
• Promote a culture of safety and assist in identifying and implementing system improvements.
• Escalate clinical, operational, or risk concerns through the chain of command when appropriate.
• Perform direct patient care and other duties as assigned.

Who You Are / Requirements:

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
• Current New Hampshire Registered Nurse license.
• Minimum two (2) years of progressive clinical experience in an acute care and/or specialty setting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and team collaboration abilities.
• Ability to prioritize, manage multiple responsibilities, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Specialty certification obtained within four (4) years of hire.
