Occupational Therapist I - Pediatrics

UNC Hospitals Rehabilitation Service Line is seeking a compassionate and dedicated part time Pediatric Occupational Therapist I to join our multidisciplinary team at the Center for Rehabilitation Care in Chapel Hill, NC. In this 20 hour per week position, you will provide high-quality care across the pediatric continuum for patients birth to 21 years of age, including developmental, orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation. Diagnoses seen include but are not limited to autism, sensory processing disorders, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, muscular dystrophy, hemiplegia, fine motor delay, brachial plexus, spina bifida, prematurity and traumatic brain injury. At the Center for Rehabilitation, you will work in collaboration with our dynamic and experienced pediatric-focused therapy team that includes physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists, as well as pediatric physiatrists, social workers, and pediatric nurse coordinators. We are also engaged in weekly to monthly interdisciplinary clinics to provide specialized, holistic care for the following diagnoses, Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, Limb Deficiency, Special Infant Care Clinic (SICC), Neuromuscular Diagnoses, Brain Injury, Charcot Marie Tooth, Down Syndrome, and Rett Syndrome. The ideal candidate would possess the following skills: Strong communication and time management abilities. Responsibilities Completes occupational therapy documentation, billing, and statistics per team guidelines. Manage daily caseload with efficiency and efficacy. Meets productivity standards per team guidelines. Administers assessment tools or instruments to assist in establishing a plan of care and subsequent modifications and manages resources to accomplish patient goals; Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care. Mentors assistive personnel and delegates responsibilities as per licensing board guidelines. Provides clinical precepting and teaching for students and/or staff under the guidance of the clinical specialist or other subject matter experts; Provides regular feedback, coaching and mentoring. Evaluates the learner's performance. Assists in the planning and coordinating of clinical programs in collaboration with the clinical specialist or manager. Participates in continuous improvement in clinical services by attending and participating in departmental meetings and in-services. Other Information Education Requirements: Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program. Licensure/Certification Requirements: Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the state of North Carolina. BLS within 3 months of hire date. Professional Experience Requirements: No prior experience required. Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements: Exhibits effective communication and interprofessional skills; requires physical stamina and repetitive movements, including, but not limited to, sitting, standing, kneeling, walking, and squatting during patient interventions while supporting one's weight; can engage in high-level problem-solving to ensure patient safety during mobilization.
