Assistant / Associate Professor - Kinesiology

Posting Details Classification Type: EHRA Position Overview The Department of Kinesiology, within the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, is seeking an assistant or associate professor with a brain health related research program. The ideal candidate will apply nanotechnology approaches for imaging and analysis of biomarkers of brain injury. This position is part of a strategic cluster across the University with three separate hires in the Departments of Kinesiology, Psychology, and Nanoengineering whose teaching and scholarly research agenda is focused on brain health. The primary purpose of this position is to provide student‑centered teaching and clinical instruction of undergraduate and graduate level courses. Faculty in this role will provide student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, engage in program assessment, and accreditation‑related procedures. The role will require establishing and sustaining a strong externally funded research program, producing an excellent record of scholarly publications, incorporating modern pedagogical skills in psychology and kinesiology courses, supervising and supporting Kinesiology students in independent research projects, and providing service to the Department, the College, the University, and appropriate community and professional organizations. This is a 9‑month, tenure‑track faculty position. Primary Function of Organizational Unit North Carolina A & T State University is a public land grant research institution committed to teaching, learning, scholarly research, and public service. It offers over 90 degree programs and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences comprises six departments and the School of Nursing, offering various undergraduate and graduate programs. The Department of Kinesiology trains evidence‑based professionals and offers a Bachelor of Science degree with three concentrations. Minimum Requirements A minimum of a PhD in Kinesiology or a related discipline by the anticipated date of appointment (ABD’s will be considered). Ability to establish and sustain a strong research enterprise focusing on brain health. Pedagogical skills to teach in areas relevant to brain health and kinesiology. Preferred Skills, Training, and Experience Research program in brain health that employs nanotechnology approaches. Prior teaching experience in baccalaureate and/or graduate Kinesiology programs. Postdoctoral training. Evidence of student advising and training. ACSM certification. Strong commitment to promoting and enhancing inclusiveness, collaboration, and diversity.
