Assistant Production Manager

Salary: $85k-$110k/year Job Title: Assistant Production Manager Job #: 5925 Location: Schenectady, NY Category: Engineering/Manufacturing Position Type: Full-time, Permanent Description Our client is currently seeking an Assistant Production Manager to join their team. This is a full-time, permanent position. Responsibilities Coordinate daily production to meet quality, safety, efficiency, and delivery goals. Supervise production staff and provide leadership in the Production Manager’s absence. Monitor workflow, labor, schedules, and production metrics to maximize performance. Ensure compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, ASME requirements, ISO 9001, and regulatory guidelines. Partner with Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, and Shipping to resolve issues and improve operations. Support production planning, scheduling, inventory control, employee training, workforce development, and continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles. Promote a safe workplace through OSHA compliance and company safety standards. Participate in customer audits, inspections, quality improvement efforts, and cost control initiatives. Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Operations Management, or a related field, or equivalent manufacturing experience. 3–5 years of manufacturing or fabrication experience; supervisory or team lead experience preferred. Experience in boiler, pressure vessel, welding, heavy fabrication, industrial equipment manufacturing, machining, or industrial assembly preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems. Knowledge of or willingness to learn ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code requirements, ISO 9001 quality systems, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and manufacturing best practices. Experience with welding, fabrication, machining, or industrial assembly preferred.
