Our client, a nonprofit/healthcare organization, is looking to hire an interim CFO to their team in Brooklyn, NY.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the CFO will be responsible for all aspects of finance including financial planning, operations, financial reporting, budgeting, risk management, accounting functions, and compliance with nonprofit and healthcare regulations. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the CFO must be a detail-oriented professional who can manage the financial and administrative needs of the organization, work closely with the auditors, and collaborate constructively with program directors. The CFO will provide counsel and support to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors on all financial matters and reports to the Board, as well as work on various strategic initiatives, ensuring financial sustainability and alignment with company mission and trauma-informed care practices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Finance:  Manage and oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, monthly and year-end closing schedules and planning and monitoring of cash flow. Ensure availability of funds as needed.  Oversee cash, investment, and asset management.  Oversee financing strategies and activities, as well as banking relationships.  Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses, and dashboards to inform strategic decisions and provide insight into the organization’s operations and business plans.  Oversee Revenue Cycle Management, monitoring billing and collections.  Ensure proper internal controls, compliance with nonprofit regulations, and accurate reporting for federal/state funders, foundations, and the Board.  Facilitate annual audits, tax filings, and act as liaison to external auditors.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 years’ financial management leadership experience with increasing levels of responsibility.  Significant financial responsibility for a complex nonprofit organization preferred.  Familiarity with city, state, and federal grants with significant understanding of Medicaid/Medicare, DOHMH, OMH and OASAS requirements. Experience with private foundations grants a plus.  Strong familiarity with information technology systems and accounting systems, with the ability to keep abreast of new technologies. Must have in-depth knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of FundEz a plus.  Ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information is a must.  Strong relationship builder and communicator with experience leading diverse work teams, developing an organization-wide strategy for financial excellence, engaging community partners, and partnering with the CEO and Board of Directors.
