In this role, you will serve as the team’s primary software-focused engineer within a small, multidisciplinary government engineering team that includes aerospace/mechanical engineers and aerial delivery equipment specialists.About the RoleAs a Software Test & Integration Engineer, you will take technical ownership of software-related challenges, independently drive issues to resolution, support hands-on flight testing, and collaborate effectively across government, contractor, operational, and test organizations. Much of the work will focus on maintaining and evolving an established government-owned software codebase developed over the past decade.Key ResponsibilitiesFlight Test & Field Operations SupportTravel to drop zones and test ranges for flight test and demonstration events (typically 1–2 weeks per trip)Set up, configure, and operate ground stations and telemetry equipment in field environmentsConduct pre-drop software and system checks; assist with rigging, load buildup, and aircraft loadingRecover and validate flight data using software tools; deliver quick-look analyses to support go/no-go decisionsTroubleshoot software and integration issues under tight timelines and austere field conditionsSoftware Integration SupportServe as the primary software engineering subject matter expert for the Cargo Aerial Delivery teamDevelop and execute software test procedures; investigate failures from lab, ground, and flight testingOperate integration test benches, software-in-the-loop (SIL), and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systemsMaintain, adapt, and develop internal tools including telemetry/flight-log parsers, post-drop analysis scripts, ground station utilities, and basic imagery analysis toolsSupport broader engineering efforts as needed, including tasks outside traditional software rolesCybersecurity SupportAct as the technical focal point for Cyber Working Groups (CWG) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) activitiesPrepare cybersecurity documentation supporting Annual Security Reviews and Authorizations to OperateRun and interpret vulnerability scans; triage findings, propose remediation plans, and track them to closureRequired QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 4+ years of experience (additional experience/training/certifications may substitute for a degree)US Citizenship; ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC)Proven abilities with Python and/or C/C++ programming languages and software developmentStrong working knowledge in several of the following:Git/GitLab workflowsSoftware configuration management and version controlSoftware integration, debugging, and troubleshootingSoftware verification and testingLinux command-line environmentsEmbedded software or firmwareSoftware/hardware integrationReading and analyzing software logs and telemetryProven ability to communicate technical information clearly across diverse technical teamsWillingness to travel up to 25% depending on program needsPreferred QualificationsExperience with embedded systems, avionics, robotics, autonomous systems, aerospace systems, or other software‑intensive physical systemsExperience in developmental or operational test environmentsHands-on troubleshooting experience in field or lab environmentsExperience reviewing source code or conducting merge request/code reviewsPython experience developing data-processing or engineering analysis toolsExperience working with government engineering teams or DoD programsFamiliarity with DoD cybersecurity requirements and RMF processesAWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or equivalent cloud experienceStrong analytical, technical, and communication skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teamsReady to make an impact?
