Reporting directly to the President & CEO and working closely with the Board of Directors, the CFO provides strategic financial leadership and oversight for all aspects of financial management, planning, reporting, and compliance.This executive role requires a visionary financial leader who can balance long-term strategic planning with operational excellence. The CFO plays a critical role in driving financial sustainability, supporting organizational growth, and ensuring the highest standards of fiscal stewardship and transparency.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Financial Leadership:Develop and execute comprehensive financial strategies that support organizational mission, sustainability, and long-term growthLead multi-year strategic financial planning and scenario modeling to inform organizational priorities and resource allocationProvide strategic financial analysis and recommendations on major organizational initiatives, partnerships, and program expansionIdentify and assess financial risks and opportunities, developing mitigation strategies and contingency plansPartner with executive leadership to align financial resources with strategic prioritiesFinancial Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting:Lead the development and execution of the annual organizational budget aligned with strategic priorities and mission impactDevelop advanced financial models and forecasting tools to support data-driven decision makingCreate and maintain rolling forecasts and scenario planning modelsEstablish a comprehensive KPI framework to monitor organizational financial health and performanceOversee capital planning and major financial commitmentsDrive the budget development process with department leaders to ensure alignment and accountabilityFinancial Reporting and Compliance:Ensure accurate, timely, and comprehensive financial reporting for internal stakeholders, the Board of Directors, funders, and regulatory agenciesPresent financial reports, analysis, and recommendations to the Board of Directors and the Finance & Audit CommitteeEnsure compliance with GAAP, non-profit accounting standards, and all applicable laws and regulationsMaintain strong internal controls and financial policies to safeguard organizational assetsTreasury and Risk Management:Oversee cash flow management, banking relationships, and treasury operationsManage the organization's investment portfolio in alignment with Board-approved investment policiesDevelop and monitor cash flow projections to ensure ongoing liquidityManage debt obligations, lines of credit, and financial institutional relationshipsOversee insurance coverage and enterprise risk management strategiesSystems and Process Leadership:Drive continuous improvement of financial systems, processes, and infrastructureChampion optimization and full utilization of financial technology platforms, including NetSuite and financial planning toolsLead evaluation, selection, and implementation of financial system enhancementsEnsure efficiency and integration across financial systemsEstablish standardized financial processes and documentation across the organizationLeadership and Team Development:Provide strategic leadership, mentorship, and professional development for the finance functionBuild and sustain a high-performing, collaborative finance team culture focused on service excellenceDirectly supervise senior finance leadership, including the Controller and senior financial staffFoster strong cross-functional partnerships with programmatic and administrative teamsDevelop succession planning and a strong talent pipeline within the finance functionRequired Qualifications:Education and Credentials Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field requiredMBA, CPA, or CMA required; CPA strongly preferredMaster's degree in a relevant field preferredExperience: Minimum of 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience7–10 years in an executive-level CFO or equivalent senior finance roleExperience managing finances of organizations with $20M+ budgets and complex funding streamsDeep expertise in non-profit financial management, compliance, and reportingProven experience with government contracts and/or foundation grantsDemonstrated success leading financial transformations and system implementationsTechnical and Strategic Skills: Expert knowledge of GAAP and non-profit accounting principlesAdvanced financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario planning skillsStrong experience with ERP systems;
