This contract position offers the chance to cover a leave and work onsite, providing educational guidance and advocacy for students with special needs. Located near West Hartford, CT, this opportunity allows you to utilize your expertise and passion to foster growth and progress in a collaborative school environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Current, active Connecticut Special Education Teacher license (SPED) along with all required certifications
- Demonstrated experience working in special education settings within schools
- Effective communication skills with students, staff, and families
- Committed to individualized education and student progress
- Capacity to adapt and respond to diverse student needs
- Willingness to work onsite for 35 hours per week during the contract period
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support for students with varying abilities in alignment with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff to enhance student outcomes
- Develop lesson plans and implement differentiated teaching strategies
- Participate in IEP meetings, contribute progress reports, and maintain accurate student records
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment where each learner is encouraged to achieve their best
- Engage in ongoing communication with families and caregivers regarding student progress
