Job Title: CNC Machinist

Job Description

This role involves independently setting up, operating, and tearing down Mill/Turn and Mazak lathe CNC machines in a dynamic job shop environment. You will work from blueprints and setup sheets to run primarily production parts, with job types and workloads varying based on incoming orders. Quality is a key focus, and you will regularly inspect parts using precision measuring tools to ensure they meet specifications.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform complete setup and tear down of CNC Mill/Turn and Mazak lathe machines.

• Interpret and work from blueprints and setup sheets to produce parts to specification.

• Run majority production parts in a job shop environment with frequently changing jobs and orders.

• Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.

• Inspect and verify finished parts using quality measuring tools to ensure they meet required tolerances and standards.

• Maintain organized workstations within milling, lathe, and other production cells.

• Collaborate with team members and quality personnel to address any dimensional or quality issues.

• Follow established safety procedures and shop practices while operating CNC equipment.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 3+ years of CNC machining experience in a production or job shop environment.

• Proven ability to set up and tear down CNC machines independently.

• Strong understanding and practical use of G-code and M-code.

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and setup sheets.

• Hands-on experience with CNC Mill/Turn and lathe machines.

• Ability to use precision quality measuring tools for part inspection.

• Solid knowledge of CNC machine operation and machine shop practices.

• Attention to detail and ability to maintain tight tolerances on production parts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• CNC Mazak programming experience is a strong plus.

• Background in machine tool technology or related technical training.

• Experience working in a job shop with varied, changing work orders.

• Familiarity with milling, Swiss, and lathe machining environments.

• Comfort working with newer CNC equipment and adapting to different machine cells.

Work Environment

The role is based in a wide-open, fairly organized machine shop featuring dedicated milling cells, Swiss cells, lathe cells, and a separate quality room attached to the shop floor. Most of the equipment is new, providing a modern and efficient work setting. You will work on the shop floor around CNC milling and turning centers and quality inspection tools, following standard shop attire appropriate for a hands-on manufacturing environment. Schedules are set, with some flexibility to modify them occasionally based on specific situations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $80000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
