Registered Nurse - Psychiatric

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides comprehensive psychiatric nursing care to patients within the scope of practice as defined by the Oregon State Board of Nursing. Focuses on assessment, treatment, education, and collaboration to promote patient recovery and well-being.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, and educational needs to develop individualized nursing care plans.
• Establish nursing diagnoses based on assessment findings and coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to plan appropriate care.
• Implement and document patient care activities, including medication administration, wound care, pain management, and safe patient handling.
• Assist physicians and healthcare practitioners with invasive and non-invasive procedures, ensuring patient safety.
• Educate patients and families about illness, procedures, medications, and health promotion strategies.
• Supervise and coordinate care delivery by unlicensed assistive personnel to maintain optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Valid Oregon RN license or willingness to obtain licensing.
• Minimum of 1 year of inpatient psychiatric nursing experience.
• Recent hospital experience within the last 5 years.
• BLS certification and CPI certification or willing to obtain.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and crisis response skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
