Chai Discovery seeks a Scientist in Protein Design to join its AI-driven drug discovery platform team in San Francisco. The role involves advising major pharmaceutical partners on protein engineering challenges, serving as an expert user of the company's technology, and translating client needs into internal research initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop deep understanding of partner organizations' scientific objectives and therapeutic targets
• Serve as power user of Chai's AI platform, mastering technical capabilities and limitations
• Apply creative problem-solving to novel biological challenges in collaboration with internal and external scientists
• Translate field findings and partner feedback into recommendations for product and model refinement
• Advise on drug discovery strategy as trusted scientific advisor to major pharmaceutical programs

Requirements

• Expertise in protein design, antibody engineering, or computational biology methods
• Experience in academic research or pharmaceutical drug discovery programs
• Strong communication skills and ability to operate with urgency
• Demonstrated curiosity, intellectual rigor, and collaborative mindset
• Capability to work independently and perform under pressure
