Scientist II, LNP Platform

AbbVie seeks a Scientist II to develop and execute formulation and process work for lipid nanoparticle-based drug products in Worcester, MA. The role involves hands-on laboratory execution, characterization, optimization, and technical documentation with independent project ownership.

Responsibilities

• Execute formulation, conjugation, purification, and process development projects for targeted lipid nanoparticle formulations
• Prepare, formulate, purify, and characterize nucleic acid-based lipid nanoparticle formulations per established protocols
• Execute and analyze designed experiments to optimize LNP formulations and process parameters
• Identify technical issues and process variability; conduct root-cause investigations and propose corrective actions
• Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing procedures, results, and recommended next steps

Requirements

• BS with 7+ years experience or MS with 5+ years experience in relevant field
• Working knowledge of lipid-based delivery systems and nanoparticle characterization
• Hands-on experience with nucleic acid or lipid nanoparticle formulations
• Demonstrated ability to execute lab procedures accurately and maintain compliant documentation
• Ability to identify technical risks, troubleshoot issues, and propose practical solutions
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and capacity to manage multiple projects
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
