Become the Voice of Change in a Vibrant City – Join Us as a Speech Pathologist
Imagine where your skills can take you when your next career leap is filled with purpose — both for yourself and those you serve. As a Speech Pathologist in one of America's most dynamic cities, you have the power to transform lives by addressing speech, language, and swallowing challenges. From children forming their first phrases to older adults gaining back their independence, your role isn't just a job; it's a chance to evoke change and inspire connections.
This position opens doors to a rich array of experiences, allowing you to impact individuals of all ages in a blended outpatient and occasional inpatient environment. Whether you are fascinated by child language development, seek to address communication issues in adults recovering from neurological events, or have a passion for geriatric cognitive communication, your unique talents will shine here.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough evaluations of patients across pediatric, adult, and geriatric demographics using standardized and observational methodologies.
- Create tailored treatment strategies to meet both immediate needs and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing goals.
- Deliver individualized speech therapy interventions, focusing on facets such as communication, language acquisition, fluency, voice modulation, and swallowing techniques.
- Engage in collaborative efforts with physical therapists, occupational therapists, nursing staff, physicians, caregivers, and family members to develop cohesive and effective care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on navigating communication challenges to ensure continued progress outside therapy sessions.
- Participate in occasional inpatient evaluations and interventions, ensuring a seamless continuum of care throughout the treatment process.
- Document clinical findings, treatment strategies, and patient progress in alignment with state regulations and institutional policies.
- Commit to ongoing professional development through continuing education and networking with peers.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) is required if ASHA certification is not yet obtained.
Licenses & Certifications
- State licensure as a Speech Pathologist.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is highly preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within the first month of employment.
Skills
- Expertise in evidence-based treatment methods applicable to various age groups, alongside a deep understanding of the intricacies of speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
- Superior interpersonal skills to engage successfully with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to adapt therapies to meet varying cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Strong analytical abilities for clinical judgement and problem-solving.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation requirements.
Perks and Benefits
- Attractive salary reflective of experience.
- Flexible schedules designed for optimal work-life balance and diversified caseloads.
- Opportunities to specialize further in pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatrics.
- Paid time off (PTO) as well as holiday remuneration.
- Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options available.
- Financial support for continuing education and professional development opportunities.
- Cohesive, team-oriented environment dedicated to quality care and continuous learning.
A Journey Filled with Purpose
When you step into this role, you're not just practicing therapy; you're joining a mission to rekindle voices, enhance communication, and create beautiful moments through authentic engagement. The bonds you build with colleagues are akin to those of family, functioning in a space that prioritizes collaboration over competition. Each patient has a narrative; we trust you to help shape that story.
