The Basic Sciences Department provides excellentinstructors for the basic science courses required in our programs.The Adjunct Assistant Professor in Basic Science is expected toexcel at teaching a specific course(s) in their area of expertise.Note: this is a part-time position. Duties and Responsibilities: The Adjunct Assistant Professor is a part time position. Theindividual must be able to teach graduate/medical school levelcourses in their field of expertise and as defined by a specificposition posting. Key responsibilities: Contribute to student learning, growth, and advancement. Demonstrate academic competence in their area of expertise andwork with other faculty, staff, and departments to align curriculumas needed. Maintain a growth mindset toward student learning, teachingpractice and being flexible to teach different course content fordifferent learner cohorts as needed. Demonstrate a high degree of self-efficacy, being heldaccountable for learner outcomes and advocate for learners tosucceed and excel. Collaborate effectively with various stakeholder groups withinthe University to increase student performance. Invest in the learners’ well-being, health, and safety,physically, socially, and emotionally. Design and facilitate differentiated and personalized learninggoals and activities that follow a coherent sequence, are alignedto instructional goals, and engage students in high-level cognitivelearning. Other duties may be assigned. Required Education and/or Experience: Applicant must have an advanced degree (M.S, PhD, MD, DPM.) inthe area of expertise or a closely related discipline. Clinicaldoctors may also apply. At least two years of experience teaching at an institute ofhigher education in the specific area of interest; and graduatelevel experience in such teaching is preferred. Additional job requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds, carry, push, pull,kneel, and stoop. Must be able to move about campus to accomplish tasks. Ability to read, write, compose, and edit complexdocuments. Ability to do deskwork/ computer work for prolonged periods oftime. Must be able to express ideas by means of verbal and writtencommunication. Ability to receive and interpret detailed information throughverbal and written communication. Employee Status: Fixed Term (Fixed Term) Exemption Status: United States of America (Exempt) Time Type: Part time Job Shift: Pay Range: Based on teaching assignment a reasonable estimate for thisposition is between $600 - $8000. Samuel Merritt University currently provides base salary ranges forall positions-on job advertisements-in the United States based onlocal requirements.
