What You Will Accomplish

• Close the books by the 10th business day every month with 99%+ accuracy so leadership can price the next Corning or Glenstone-scale job on real data.
• Produce rolling 13-week cash forecasts that keep payroll, consultants, and vendors paid on multi-year institutional contracts.
• Cut average invoice-to-cash cycle 20% in year one by tightening billing, collections, and job-cost coding with project managers.
• Stand up project-level P&L and utilization dashboards that flag overruns 30 days before they hit the income statement.
• Lead the annual audit and tax filings with zero material adjustments, preserving our SBE status and bonding capacity.
• Document and train a two-person accounting team so month-end, payroll, and 401(k) run without you in the room.

Environment & Resources

You report to the Managing Principal and sit with a lean finance group supporting two offices. You will use our existing accounting and project-management stack (plus any upgrades you justify). Travel between Wilton, CT and Boston is occasional. Budget authority covers software, training, and one additional hire if volume justifies it.

Essential Qualifications

• 5+ years owning month-end close and project accounting in a professional-services or A/E firm of similar size.
• Hands-on experience with job-cost systems, WIP, and percentage-of-completion revenue.
• Track record of producing cash-flow and utilization reports principals actually use.
• CPA or equivalent technical depth; audit-ready workpapers are non-negotiable.
• Ability to translate engineering project language into clean general-ledger entries.
