Bookkeeper/Staff Accountant Matthews, Carter & Boyce, a mid-size, full-service CPA firm in Fairfax, VA is seeking to once again grow our Outsourced Accounting Services (OAS) team. Specifically, we are seeking a Bookkeeper/Staff Accountant to work on existing and new accounts in this expanding practice. Hours/Schedule: This is a part-time position (20‑30 hours per week) with a flexible hybrid schedule, including remote work and some time in our Fairfax office. Employees hired for 30 hours per week are eligible for benefits. Location Requirements: Must reside in Washington Metro area to support occasional in‑person client visits and some periodic office hours in Fairfax. Job Description: The Bookkeeper/Staff Accountant will assist managers on multiple clients. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Prepare AP/AR, journal entries Prepare bank and credit card reconciliations Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, in client‑prescribed formats including reconciliations for all balance‑sheet accounts and significant income‑statement accounts Perform bookkeeping services for clients, including recording deposits, assisting with bill pay, coding of transactions and processing payroll (including tax deposits) Maintain fixed asset and depreciation records when applicable Prepare payroll tax, sales or other local tax returns when applicable. Required Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in accounting or related business field Proficiency in QuickBooks High degree of accuracy, timeliness and dependability Proficient/Advanced level of experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and use of internet resources Strong interpersonal and client service skills Ability to work well as a member of a team or independently Preferred Qualifications: Minimum 2 years of experience in public or private accounting required, with external client service experience Proficiency in both accrual‑based and cash‑based accounting Experience working in a cloud‑based software environment Experience with Axcess Document, Workflow and Bill.com #J-18808-Ljbffr
