Registered Nurse – ICU (Float Pool)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Rotating Day/Night Shifts (3x12-Hour Shifts) | Onsite | Float Pool – ICUs, TCUs, ED, and PACU

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage complex critical care patients including those requiring advanced mechanical circulatory and multi-organ support therapies
• Provide bedside ECMO care as primary RN responsibility, including management without dedicated bedside perfusion support
• Operate and monitor advanced support devices such as IABP, Impella, LVAD, CRRT, and Pulmonary Artery Catheters
• Float to various ICU, TCU, ED, and PACU units across multiple facilities as assigned based on departmental need
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in a high-acuity academic medical center environment, including transplant and cardiothoracic surgery populations
• Document patient care accurately using Epic electronic health record system

Required Qualifications

• Active California RN License (must be in hand at time of submission)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum 4 years of recent ICU experience, including CVICU, CTICU, or CCU
• ECMO experience within the last 6 months to 1 year, specifically as a bedside RN with primary ECMO responsibility
• Teaching hospital experience required; ability to float to multiple units and facilities

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with VA ECMO, VV ECMO, and V-PA ECMO configurations
• Experience with CRRT (NxStage), IABP (Teleflex), Impella, and Ventricular Assist Devices
• Experience with heart and/or lung transplant recovery, bridge-to-transplant, cardiothoracic surgery recovery, and prostacyclin therapies
• Experience simultaneously managing multiple support devices (e.g., ECMO + CRRT, ECMO + Impella, ECMO + IABP) and prior academic medical center experience
