Labor & Employment Attorney | Long Island, NY | 5-15+ Years

AJ Chambers are delighted to be working with a well established Long Island law firm that is seeking an experienced Labor & Employment Attorney to join its team on a full-time, onsite basis.

\n

\n

This is an excellent opportunity for a Labor & Employment lawyer with strong management side, employment defense and traditional labor experience. The successful attorney will have significant client contact and will handle a broad range of employment, labor, litigation and advisory matters.

\n

\n

The attorney will advise employers and management on a wide range of Labor & Employment matters, including:

\n

\n

\n
• Employment litigation and employment law defense
\n
• Discrimination, harassment and sexual harassment claims
\n
• Wage & hour disputes, unpaid wages and overtime claims
\n
• Management side labor relations
\n
• Labor law and union related matters
\n
• Collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) and CBA negotiations
\n
• Prevailing wage matters
\n
• Withdrawal liability and ERISA related labor matters
\n
• Employment related disputes and claims
\n
• General corporate and commercial matters
\n
• Legal advice and counseling for employers and management
\n

\n

\n

The role will involve substantial hands on legal work, including:

\n

\n
• Representing clients in state and federal court
\n
• Appearing before government agencies and administrative bodies
\n
• Handling arbitrations, hearings, trials and appeals
\n
• Conducting legal research and preparing legal memoranda
\n
• Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, agreements and other legal documents
\n
• Advising clients on employment and labor law compliance
\n
• Developing legal strategies with clients
\n
• Managing matters from inception through resolution
\n
• Maintaining direct relationships with clients and providing practical legal advice
\n

\n

Must Haves

\n

\n
• 5-15+ years of legal experience
\n
• Strong Labor & Employment law experience
\n
• Management-side / employer-side experience
\n
• Experience defending employment claims and disputes
\n
• Experience with discrimination, harassment and/or wage & hour matters
\n
• Strong litigation and advocacy experience
\n
• Experience with court appearances, hearings, arbitrations, trials or appeals
\n
• Excellent legal research, writing and communication skills
\n
• Ability to work full-time, on-site in Long Island, NY
\n

Compensation & Benefits

• $175k - $250k
\n
• Originations are not required
\n
• Existing book of business will be considered
\n
• Full client contact and direct responsibility for matters
