Unit Overview The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology unit consists of 11 beds and specializes in caring for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults facing various hematological and oncological challenges. Our multidisciplinary team delivers comprehensive, family-centered care throughout the treatment journey, which includes chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood transfusions, bone marrow transplants, symptom management, and end-of-life care. As a center engaged in clinical research, we provide patients with access to groundbreaking clinical trials while ensuring compassionate, evidence-based care that aims for optimal outcomes. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments and identify subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene promptly and advocate for your patients. Administer safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands-on care, relying on strong clinical judgment. Collaborate with physicians and advanced providers, offering insights that facilitate timely and coordinated care decisions. Deliver clear and compassionate education to patients and families, ensuring they feel informed and prepared for the next steps in their care. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record to enhance continuity and patient safety. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, contributing to effective communication and smooth transitions of care. Engage actively in a collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly influence outcomes. You actively contribute to strengthening a collaborative team culture. Qualifications Active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing. Current American Heart Association BLS certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification, and APHON Chemotherapy Certification are required. Minimum of 1 year of pediatric experience is necessary. Previous experience in Pediatric Oncology is preferred. An Associate’s degree in Nursing is required; a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is strongly preferred. Prior patient care experience and familiarity with electronic medical record systems (EMR), such as EPIC, are advantageous. This position requires working the Night Shift, 36 hours per week, from 7 PM to 7:30 AM.
