We are actively seeking an Account Manager to join a growing, well-established fuel systems products distributor serving commercial and industrial customers across Southern California and beyond. You will work side by side with the Vice President of Business Development to drive profitable sales growth by nurturing key customer relationships, uncovering new opportunities, and shaping smart sales strategies informed by market data. What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Cultivate confident, ongoing relationships with existing and prospective customers through proactive outreach, site visits, and responsive follow up.
- Manage a portfolio of assigned accounts, acting as the primary external sales contact and discussing upcoming projects, product needs, and future business plans.
- Collaborate with fellow Account Managers on joint sales calls, quotes, and order follow-through to ensure customer expectations are consistently met or exceeded.
- Provide timely feedback to the Vice President of Business Development regarding marketing opportunities, product line needs, and data-informed pricing suggestions.
- Review and interpret sales metrics to refine strategies that increase revenue and protect or grow gross margins.
- Continuously monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and customer buying behavior to identify new opportunities and potential risks.
- Prepare accurate sales reports and forecasts and present them to leadership as part of the annual and ongoing budgeting process.
- Meet or surpass your assigned annual sales and gross margin targets by executing a disciplined, relationship-based sales plan.
- Maintain strong product expertise on all equipment offered and build productive relationships with manufacturer representatives and support teams.
- Take on additional sales-related projects and initiatives that advance overall business objectives as requested by leadership.
To Be Successful in This Role, You'll Bring:
- 3+ years of successful sales experience, preferably in an outside or account management capacity.
- At least 2 years working in the fuel system or fuel products industry, with a solid understanding of customer applications and equipment.
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, juggle multiple accounts, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven skill working with cross-functional partners such as Sales, Project Management, and Warehouse teams to deliver seamless customer service.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a clear preference for picking up the phone first and using email to confirm details.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and comfort working within ERP systems; experience with Epicor Prophet 21 is a plus.
- Willingness and ability to travel to customer locations, along with the physical capability to work in an office environment using a computer, phone, and related equipment for extended periods.
- Dependable, punctual working style with high attention to detail and a strong analytical, problem-solving mindset.
