Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a designated Stroke Unit position requiring NIHSS certification and a TN or compact RN license.

Details

• Work on a 30-bed designated Stroke Unit caring primarily for stroke patients with some general medical/surgical patients mixed in
• Patient population ranges from young adults to late adults (18-60+)
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:6
• Works within a variable staffing grid alongside RNs, LPNs, PCTs, and Nurse Interns, with the RN assuming full responsibility for the team's patients
• Night shift schedule from 18:45-07:15
• 13-week assignment
• May be required to float to other units or facilities within a 35-mile radius based on staffing needs, patient census, and acuity, with advance notice always provided before the scheduled shift

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Successful completion of a proctored rhythm test required
• Minimum of 1 year of experience required
• Current license and primary source verification (including Nursys) required within 30 days prior to start
• US Social Security Number and US home address required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to stroke and medical/surgical patients, supporting improvement in their ability to perform activities of daily living
• Work as part of a fast-paced Neurology/Stroke team requiring strong teamwork and clear communication
• Local candidates accepted, though a radius rule may apply and could affect pay rate
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
