American Trim is seeking experienced Industrial Maintenance Technicians to support our manufacturing operations. This is an advanced technical role responsible for troubleshooting complex production equipment and automated systems, including PLCs, robotics, servo motors, loaders, unloaders, stackers, destackers, automated polishers and transfer systems.

In addition to hands-on troubleshooting and repair, Industrial Maintenance Technicians serve as technical resources for Maintenance and Production, assist Engineering with equipment installation and improvement projects, and help develop the skills of other team members.

Schedule & Pay

1st Shift: 5:55 AM – 2:00 PM, Monday–Friday
2nd Shift: 1:55 PM – 10:00 PM, Monday–Friday
3rd Shift: 9:55 PM – 6:00 AM, Sunday–Thursday

All shifts include rotating weekends and overtime as needed. Scheduled hours may flex based on operational needs.

Base Pay: $26.00–$40.00+ per hour, depending on experience
Shift Differential: Additional $1.50 per hour for 2nd and 3rd shift

Job Summary

The Industrial Maintenance Technician performs advanced industrial maintenance, electrical and automation work in addition to the responsibilities associated with an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician.

This position troubleshoots, installs, repairs and modifies automated manufacturing systems and components, including PLCs, loaders, unloaders, robots, stackers, servo motors, destackers, automated polishers and transfer systems. The position requires a strong understanding of electronic control circuits, sensors, SMARTPAC and tooling-related systems.

The Industrial Maintenance Technician also serves as a technical resource to Maintenance and Production, providing advanced troubleshooting support, mentoring and training while working collaboratively with Engineering and other technical resources to improve equipment reliability and manufacturing performance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and automated manufacturing systems using laptop computers, programming and diagnostic software, schematics and other appropriate troubleshooting tools.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for PLCs, electronic controls, sensors, servo systems, robotics and other automated equipment.
• Assist Electrical Engineers, Controls Engineers and other technical resources with PLC troubleshooting, equipment diagnostics and system support.
• Install, troubleshoot, repair and modify automated manufacturing systems, including loaders, unloaders, robots, stackers, servo motors, destackers, automated polishers and transfer systems.
• Troubleshoot electronic control circuits, SMARTPAC systems, sensors and other controls associated with manufacturing equipment.
• Communicate and collaborate with technical support personnel, Engineering, Maintenance, Production and other business unit resources to resolve complex equipment and production issues.
• Install, troubleshoot, maintain and repair electrical equipment and systems, including motors, controllers and related components, in accordance with applicable safety requirements.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and systems.
• Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, mechanical and pneumatic schematics, blueprints, engineering drawings and other technical specifications.
• Assist Engineering with equipment planning, design reviews, equipment buy-off, installation, startup and modification of new and existing manufacturing equipment.
• Identify opportunities to improve, automate and increase the reliability of production equipment and systems.
• Perform advanced preventive maintenance activities and assist with developing, improving and standardizing preventive maintenance practices.
• Diagnose complex equipment failures and complete or coordinate repairs necessary to safely return equipment to reliable operation.
• Serve as a technical mentor and trainer for Maintenance and Production employees developing skills on equipment and systems within the Master Industrial Maintenance Technician's area of expertise.
• Attend continuing education, technical classes, equipment training and other development activities as requested to maintain and expand applicable maintenance and automation skills.
• Travel to suppliers, equipment manufacturers, training locations and other American Trim facilities as required. Travel may include extended overnight stays for equipment training, equipment buy-off and other business needs.
• Perform the applicable duties and responsibilities of an Industrial Maintenance Technician as required.
• Follow established Lockout/Tagout procedures and all other required safe-work practices when inspecting, servicing or repairing equipment.
• Comply with all safety, environmental and housekeeping standards and procedures.
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas.
• Communicate equipment conditions, repair status, operational concerns and maintenance needs to appropriate team members and supervision.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• Extensive industrial maintenance experience with demonstrated advanced electrical, mechanical and automation troubleshooting skills.
• Journeyperson-level Maintenance Mechanic/Electrician experience, senior-level industrial maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and demonstrated experience preferred.
• PLC training and demonstrated experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to connect to and use PLC and other control-system software to diagnose equipment and automation issues.
• Training and/or demonstrated experience in multiple areas of automation, industrial electronics, controls and/or tooling.
• Experience troubleshooting automated manufacturing systems, robotics, servo systems, sensors and electronic control circuits.
• Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, mechanical and pneumatic schematics, blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Ability to use precision measuring and electrical diagnostic equipment, including tape measures, micrometers, calipers, voltmeters and amp probes. Oscilloscope experience is a plus.
• Ability to safely operate and use tools and equipment associated with the maintenance trade, including drill presses, lathes and grinders.
• Experience working collaboratively with Engineering on equipment installation, startup, modification and/or automation projects preferred.
• Experience with SMARTPAC systems preferred.
• Robotics and servo-system troubleshooting experience preferred.
• Welding experience, including stick and TIG welding, preferred.
• HVAC knowledge and/or experience preferred.
• Ability to successfully complete required lift truck training and certification.
• Technical degrees, certifications, apprenticeship training and/or continuing education related to industrial maintenance, electrical systems, automation or controls preferred.
• Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate technical information effectively to employees with varying levels of technical experience.
• Ability and willingness to mentor and train other Maintenance and Production employees.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across Maintenance, Production and Engineering.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to equipment reliability.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and dependability.

Forklift Certification:

This position requires company forklift certification. Employees must successfully complete a drug screening as part of the initial certification process and any required recertification process, in accordance with company policy.

• Stand, walk and move throughout the facility for extended periods of time.
• Bend, reach, climb, kneel, crouch and work in positions necessary to access, troubleshoot and repair machinery and automated equipment.
• Work at heights as required to access and service equipment and systems.
• Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on a non-repetitive basis.
• Perform work requiring hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity and precision.
• Use computers, diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools and other equipment required to troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery.
• Work around electrical systems, automated equipment, robotics, moving machinery and other industrial equipment.
• Work in manufacturing environments that may include dirt, oil, grease, noise and other conditions associated with industrial machinery and equipment.
• Work independently at times and in close coordination with Maintenance, Production, Engineering and other employees at other times.
• Work under time-sensitive conditions when equipment troubleshooting and repairs are necessary to restore production operations.
• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including eye, hearing, foot and other protective equipment as required.
• Work overtime, rotating weekends and adjusted hours as required by operational needs.
• Travel to other American Trim facilities, suppliers, equipment manufacturers and training locations as required, including occasional extended overnight stays.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout and all other required safety procedures when servicing, troubleshooting or repairing equipment.
