Lead Software Engineer - Java Full Stack, AI

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience
• Experience across the software development life cycle, including hands-on development
• Hands-on experience with Java/J2EE, REST services, and Spring Boot
• Strong experience writing complex SQL queries, joins, PL/SQL, functions, and stored procedures
• Hands-on public cloud experience with Kubernetes and AWS, including extensive experience with ECS, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, EventBridge, and Step Functions; experience automating infrastructure with Terraform
• Proficiency designing and implementing RESTful APIs for enterprise-scale applications
• Ability to design software systems using object-oriented principles and practices
• Experience building decoupled systems and using design patterns and technologies to improve component flexibility and maintainability
• Proficiency with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito
• Knowledge of messaging platforms such as Apache Kafka
• Experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools for coding, code review, test acceleration, or troubleshooting, and setting expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and security and resiliency expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption
• Preferred: Familiarity with modern front-end technologies such as React JS, JavaScript, and TypeScript
• Preferred: Experience with SQL performance tuning, JDBC, and ORM frameworks such as Hibernate/JPA
• Preferred: Familiarity with DevOps practices, containerization, and orchestration
• Preferred: Exposure to AI systems such as Copilot or Claude

• Design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions, taking approaches beyond routine methods to solve technical problems
• Develop secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others
• Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate recurring remediation to improve the operational stability of applications and systems
• Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical capabilities, and fit with existing systems and information architecture
• Lead Software Engineering communities of practice to build awareness and use of emerging technologies
• Contribute to a team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
• Evolve and apply AI in software development and automation
• Drive adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, including code review and refactoring, test strategy acceleration, and incident or root-cause analysis support
• Establish consistent validation standards, including secure coding, peer review, and automated testing, and promote reuse of effective team practices
• Apply knowledge of software development life cycle tools, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation
