Bookkeeper

Our client, a respected nonprofit performing arts organization in Birmingham, is looking for a bookkeeper who wants meaningful, flexible work with real ownership on the horizon. You'll help keep the financial engine running behind an organization that brings the arts to thousands of people each year — and you'll be trusted with it from day one. Benefits & Extras Flexible part-time schedule (20–25 hrs/week) within standard business hours Direct, hands-on mentorship before stepping into full ownership of the finance function Mission-driven environment supporting a well-known nonprofit arts organization Varied responsibilities beyond basic bookkeeping — payroll coordination, compliance work, seasonal production support Clear runway to grow into the lead finance role Compensation $25–$30/hour, part-time, Contract-to-Hire What You'll Be Doing Managing AP, AR, and GL bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online Processing daily bill payments and data entry Completing GL and credit card reconciliations Coordinating payroll data with an outsourced processor Administering background screenings, including coordination with immigration counsel for international staff Supporting finance needs around seasonal productions What You'll Need to be Considered Experience in QuickBooks required 3+ years of hands-on bookkeeping experience in AP, AR, GL, etc. Proficient in excel Nonprofit or small-organization accounting background is a plus Interest or passion for the arts!
