Shipping & Production Associate (Electric Sit-Down Forklift) - Plainfield, IL
6AM-4PM MONDAY-THURSDAY
$22-$26/hr
Job Description
This role combines shipping, receiving, and production support in a food manufacturing environment. You operate an electric sit-down forklift to move materials throughout the facility, handle shipping and receiving tasks, assist with production duties, and complete shipment and inventory documentation accurately. You work safely in tight warehouse and production areas, support daily operational goals, and contribute to a clean, organized, and efficient workplace.
Responsibilities

• Operate an electric sit-down forklift to move materials safely and efficiently throughout the facility.
• Load, unload, and transport products in shipping, receiving, warehouse, and production areas.
• Handle materials and products, regularly lifting and moving items weighing up to 50-60 pounds.
• Assist with production duties as needed, supporting manufacturing of food products and ingredients.
• Accurately complete paperwork and documentation related to shipments, inventory tracking, and order processing.
• Track incoming and outgoing shipments and maintain accurate inventory control records.
• Work effectively in tight warehouse and production spaces while maintaining strict safety standards.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and company procedures at all times.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment in both warehouse and production areas.
• Support team members to meet daily production, shipping, and receiving goals.
• Communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors to coordinate material flow and order fulfillment.
• Manage time effectively to complete tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Skills

• Previous forklift experience, preferably operating an electric sit-down forklift.
• Experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or production environments.
• Ability to consistently lift and move materials weighing up to 50-60 pounds.
• Comfort working in tight spaces and fast-paced warehouse and production settings.
• Experience with shipment tracking paperwork, documentation, and basic recordkeeping.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate inventory tracking and documentation.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to established procedures and guidelines.
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow within the organization.
• Dependable team player who supports colleagues and contributes to shared goals.
• Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet daily targets.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) experience in a production or food manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience in production support, material handling, and packaging.
• Experience with inventory control, order selection, and shipping and receiving operations.
• Skills in pick, pack, and order selection processes.
• Ability to track inventory and shipments using documentation and basic systems.
• Strong teamwork and dependability, with a hands-on approach to daily tasks.
• Motivation to build a long-term career in production, warehouse, and shipping operations.

Work Environment
The role is based in a food manufacturing facility that produces custom sweets and ingredients for candy, ice cream, and bakery businesses. You work in warehouse and production areas that can be tight and fast-paced, regularly operating an electric sit-down forklift and handling materials up to 50-60 pounds. The environment follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), with an emphasis on cleanliness, organization, and safety. You spend much of your time on your feet, moving between shipping, receiving, and production zones, and collaborating closely with a small, hands-on team to support daily operations.

This is a Contract position based out of Plainfield, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
