You will work collaboratively with physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare providers to deliver high-quality anesthesia services, ensuring patient safety and comfort before, during, and after procedures.Nurse Anesthetist RequirementsCurrent licensure to practice professional nursing in the State of Ohio.Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program.Current certification as a nurse anesthetist from the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists or its predecessor.Current Certificate of Authority (COA) from the Ohio Board of NursingCurrent American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.Nurse Anesthetist Key ResponsibilitiesConducts and documents a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient, including obtaining necessary consultations and diagnostic studies. Orders, selects, and/or administers pre-anesthetic medications and fluids, and ensures informed consent for anesthesia is obtained.Interviews the patient to review their medical history, focusing on previous anesthesia experiences and current drug therapies.Develops and implements a personalized anesthesia care plan.Reassesses the patient immediately prior to anesthesia induction.Selects and initiates the appropriate anesthetic technique, which may include general, regional, local anesthesia, and/or intravenous sedation.Administers anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, and fluids to maintain physiologic homeostasis and address any abnormal responses to anesthesia or the operative procedure.Chooses, applies, or inserts necessary non-invasive and invasive monitoring devices to collect and interpret physiological data.Manages the patient's airway and pulmonary function through techniques such as endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, respiratory therapy, or extubation.Oversees emergence and recovery from anesthesia, administering medications, fluids, and ventilatory support as needed to maintain homeostasis, alleviate pain, manage anesthesia side effects, or prevent/handle complications.
