High School FACS Teacher (2026-2027) Job ID: 5615161 Application Deadline: posted until filled Posted: Mar 30, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: To Be Determined Location: Hazelwood School District, Florissant, Missouri Position Type: Full‑Time Salary: $48,304 to $95,978 (Contract) Job Summary / Purpose To facilitate student achievement by helping students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women. Duties / Responsibilities Facilitate student achievement. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the designated locations and times. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence (lesson plan) of preparation upon request of administrator. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs of the students. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. Monitors student achievement. Assesses the accomplishments of students regularly and provides progress reports as required. Diagnoses learning disabilities of students regularly with assistance from district specialists. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation. Provides availability to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms. Perform other duties as assigned or required. Strives to implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives through instruction and action. Protects students, equipment, materials, and facilities by taking necessary precautions. Assists administration in implementing policies governing student life and conduct; develops reasonable classroom rules and maintains order fairly. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher/building aides and volunteers and evaluates their performance by providing meaningful input. Improves professional competence through regular attendance at professional development activities supported by the district. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Teaching Certification. MO certification required: Family Consumer Science B‑12. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Proficient in preparing rigorous, interactive, exciting, and informative lesson plans. Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Desktop Publisher, and database management. Able to work effectively with colleagues, parents, and administrators. Superior interpersonal skills to facilitate an excellent educational experience in a high‑energy, high‑stress environment. Discretion and confidentiality with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Self‑directed, highly motivated, and able to work independently. Physical Demands Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision and hearing abilities include close and distance vision, focus adjustment, depth perception, normal conversation, phone conversation, and isolating voices in multiple conversations. Work Environment / Conditions Works primarily in a classroom environment with occasional outdoor duties. Equipment / Tools / Materials Used Personal computer, copier, fax, 10‑key calculator. Required Personal Protective Equipment None. Terms of Employment Assigned to a 191‑day work calendar; 36 hours and 40 minutes per week minimum; compensation and benefits (medical, dental, vision, life) as provided by the Board of Education.
