We serve visitors who want to see the unique landscape, ancient pictographs, local history and recreate.Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, this position performs complex (journey-level) building maintenance and construction work. Responsible for duties pertaining to park operations, maintenance, and visitor services at Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site. Performs all phases of maintenance to facilities, buildings, vehicles, equipment, park grounds, and trails. Operates all types of equipment including power mowers, tools, tractors and other gasoline operated equipment. Duties may include but are not limited to: performs daily preventative maintenance (cleaning/inspecting) of restrooms, buildings, facilities and park grounds. Assists in patrols of park for enforcement of rules and regulations, provides tours and interpretive information, collects revenue, issues permits and completes reports. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:****Education:**Graduation from High School or GED.**Experience:**Three years of facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience.**Licensure:**Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment. a valid State driver's license.NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required license.**ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS:****Experience:**Thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience, with a maximum substitution of two years.**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:****Experience:*** Three years general maintenance experience in areas such as: carpentry, repairing buildings, equipment, plumbing or electrical systems.* Three years experience in grounds maintenance experience in areas such as: operating lawn mowers, tractors, trucks and power or hand tools, trails maintenance.* Experience working with the public.* Experience in revenue collection and reporting procedures.**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:*** Knowledge of building and facility repair techniques and tasks such as carpentry, plumbing, masonry, janitorial, electrical or mechanical.* Knowledge of the construction, repair, maintenance, and operation of buildings, equipment, and utility systems.* Knowledge of building materials.* Knowledge of general custodial duties.* Knowledge of general maintenance techniques.* Knowledge of accounting/accountability of revenue collection.* Skill in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook.* Skill in effective verbal and written communication.* Skill in performing minor construction and repair projects to facilities to include plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.* Skill in the use of hand and power tools, mowers, trimmers, chain saws, tractors, vehicles, generators and other mechanical equipment.* Skill in making minor repairs to small equipment and vehicles in the daily operation of the park.* Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers and work-related contacts.* Skill in selecting appropriate tools and equipment and in troubleshooting situations to determine appropriate actions to resolve problems.* Skill in managing several projects simultaneously.* Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner.* Skill in making independent, sound and timely decisions.* Skill in training others.* Ability to utilize computers to register park visitors and to complete departmental reports and forms.* Ability to accurately handle cash and account for revenue collected.* Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.* Ability to effectively train, lead, and provide guidance to hourly personnel, park hosts and volunteers.* Ability to prepare required reports.* Ability to work as a member of a team.* Ability to maintain flexibility and work with frequent interruptions and multiple and changing priorities.* Ability to assist with interpreting and enforcing park rules and regulations.* Ability to work from drawings, diagrams, or blueprints.* Ability to estimate materials.* Ability to apply proper methods, techniques, and procedures in the maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment, grounds, and trails.* Ability to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 50 lbs.* Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program.**WORKING CONDITIONS:*** Required to work in a public park with overnight camping and day use.* Required to work 40 hours per week, includes various schedules with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.* Required to respond to emergencies and on-call situations.* Required to hike over rugged terrain.* Required to perform work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.* Required to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 50 lbs.* May be required to operate a State vehicle.* Required to travel 5% with possible overnight stays.* Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures.* Non-smoking work environment in State buildings and vehicles.**PLEASE NOTE:**All applications must include complete job history information for each period of employment, provided either in the WORK HISTORY SECTION or in the attached RÉSUMÉ.
