Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (ED)

Location: Rochester, NY

Shift: 4x12 Mid/Night Rotation

• 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM (Primary Shift)

Job Summary

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-acuity emergency care to adult and geriatric patients presenting with a wide range of medical, surgical, trauma, neurological, and critical conditions. The RN is responsible for rapid triage, stabilization, cardiac monitoring, medication administration, and emergency interventions in a fast-paced ED environment. Strong clinical judgment and the ability to manage unstable, high-acuity patients is required.

Required Qualifications

• Active New York State RN License required (must be in hand; no exceptions)
• Current BLS Certification required
• Current ACLS Certification required
• Current NIHSS Certification required
• Minimum recent Emergency Department experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Strong experience with ventilator management, CPAP/BiPAP, and IV vasopressors required
• Experience in trauma, neuro, and cardiac emergencies required
• Ability to manage high-acuity ED patient ratios (1:5)

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency nursing care for adult and geriatric patients
• Perform triage, rapid assessment, and stabilization of emergency cases
• Administer IV medications, blood products, and emergency therapies
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to dysrhythmias and cardiac events
• Manage ventilated and respiratory-compromised patients
• Provide care for trauma, stroke, neuro-trauma, and orthopedic emergencies
• Perform IV insertion, phlebotomy, and central line care
• Collaborate with physicians, RTs, and interdisciplinary ED teams
• Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC
• Float within scope of practice as required
