Summary

A small civil litigation law firm is seeking an Associate Litigation Attorney to support its civil litigation practice. The firm offers a flexible work schedule, strong work-life balance, no billable-hour minimum , and mentorship from experienced attorneys.

The attorney will handle matters involving business litigation, consumer protection, defamation, landlord/tenant disputes, estate planning, and general contract-based civil litigation .

Responsibilities

• Manage civil litigation matters from start to finish

• Handle courtroom appearances, hearings, and trials

• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents

• Conduct legal research and analysis

• Conduct and respond to discovery

• Communicate directly with clients and advise them regarding litigation and settlement options

• Develop and execute litigation strategies

• Work independently while collaborating with other attorneys and staff

Qualifications

• Virginia Bar license required

• At least 3 years of litigation experience in Virginia state courts

• Demonstrated courtroom and trial experience

• Ability to independently handle a basic civil litigation matter from start to finish

• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills

• Ability to work independently with limited supervision

• Strong commitment to providing high-quality legal representation

Preferred Qualifications

• DC litigation experience

• Spanish-speaking ability

• Experience writing legal articles, blog posts, or other legal publications

• Experience in multiple areas of civil litigation
